Cookie policy

This page explains what is stored in your browser when you visit elenaalonso.es, for what purpose, for how long and who has access. Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 (LSSI-CE), Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and the Guide on the use of cookies of the Spanish Data Protection Agency apply.

Translation for information. This page is a translation of the Spanish original. In case of discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

1. What a cookie is and what this policy covers

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser to remember something between visits or between pages. Spanish law does not speak only of cookies: article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE covers any way of storing or retrieving information on your device, so this page also explains the data this site keeps in the browser's local storage, even though technically they are not cookies.

The party responsible for the site is Elena Alonso Volostnova, registered gestora administrativa at ICGA Valencia, with professional address at Calle Jerónimo Muñoz, 23, bajo, 46007 València. Contact details and the procedure for exercising your rights are in the privacy policy.

2. How it works on this site, put plainly

On entering you will see a notice with three options at the same level: accept, reject and configure. You should know exactly what happens at each moment, without euphemisms:

  • The Yandex Metrica analytics cookie is activated when the page loads, before you click anything.
  • If you click reject, we stop using it: the Yandex cookies already set are deleted from your browser and on the following pages the script is not loaded. Your decision is remembered for 24 months.
  • If you click accept, it keeps working normally.
  • You can change your mind whenever you like from cookie settings, a link present in the footer of every page.

This is an opt-out model. Article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE and the AEPD's Guide on the use of cookies require the opposite model, prior consent, in which nothing loads until the user accepts. The site owner is aware of that difference and assumes the decision. We prefer to say so here rather than state in this policy something that does not match what the site does.

Rejecting takes exactly one click, the same as accepting, and does not limit the use of the site in any way: all content, guides and forms work the same.

3. What this site stores

3.1. Technical and necessary, exempt from consent

NameTypeOwnerPurposeDuration
ea_cookie_consent_v1Local storageFirst partyTo remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so as not to ask again on every page24 months

This entry is essential: without it there would be no way to respect your decision. It is exempt from consent because it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.

3.2. Analytics with cookies, active unless you reject it

Yandex Metrica, Yandex's audience measurement tool, loads when you enter the site and stops doing so if you reject it. It sets these cookies:

NameOwnerPurposeDuration
_ym_uidYandexBrowser identifier to count unique visitors12 months
_ym_dYandexDate of the first visit, to tell new visitors from returning ones12 months
_ym_isadYandexTo detect whether the browser uses an ad blocker2 days
yabs-sid, yandexuidYandexSession identifiers of Yandex servicesSession to 12 months
_ga, _ga_ZL1HWF23FRGoogleBrowser identifier and session state to count visitors and visits in Google Analytics 424 months

Google Analytics 4, from Google Ireland Limited, works on the same basis: it loads when you enter the site and stops if you reject analytics. It sets the _ga cookies in the table.

Yandex session recording, called Webvisor, is enabled while analytics is active: it anonymously records mouse movement, clicks and scrolling to see how the site is used. Forms are marked so that the text you type into them is not recorded. If you reject analytics, no recording takes place either.

3.3. Cookieless analytics

The site also uses Ahrefs Web Analytics, which measures visits in aggregate without setting cookies or storing anything on your device and without creating identifiers that allow you to be followed between sites. As it neither stores nor retrieves information from your device, it falls outside article 22.2 and needs no consent. It works even if you reject everything.

4. International data transfers

This is worth reading early. Yandex Metrica processes data in Russia, a country that has no European Commission adequacy decision. The level of protection is not presumed equivalent to that of the European Economic Area, and the transfer should rely on the safeguards of Chapter V of Regulation (EU) 2016/679.

In practice: on entering the site, your IP address and technical browsing data leave the EEA for a country without an adequacy decision. If you are not comfortable with that, reject analytics in the notice or from the footer link: it will stop at once and the cookies already set will be deleted. The site works the same and we will still have aggregate statistics through the cookieless route.

Google Analytics may transfer data to the United States. Google LLC participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which has had a European Commission adequacy decision since July 2023. Rejecting analytics stops this transfer too.

Ahrefs Web Analytics processes data in the European Union and does not make this transfer.

5. How to change or withdraw your decision

You can change your mind whenever you like and it takes the same effort as the first time: open the panel from the cookie settings link, which is also in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, analytics cookies stop loading and any that exist are removed from your browser.

Your choice is kept for a maximum of 24 months. After that period we will ask again, as the AEPD requires.

6. How to delete cookies from the browser

Regardless of the above, any browser lets you view and delete stored cookies:

If you delete the browser's cookies, the record of your choice is deleted too, and the notice will appear again on the next visit.

7. What happens if you reject

Nothing that matters to you. There are no cookie walls, no content reserved for those who accept, no forms that stop working. The difference is internal: with analytics on we know which guides are read and which are not, and that helps us decide what to update first.

8. Updates to this policy

If we change the measurement tools or new cookies appear, we will update this page and, when the change affects the legal basis or the purposes, we will ask for consent again. The date of the last review appears at the end of the page.

If you believe the processing does not comply with the law you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency, although we would be grateful if you wrote to us first: it is usually settled sooner.

Questions about what data we keep?

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the site without analytics cookies?

Yes. On rejecting, the Yandex cookies already set are deleted and on the following pages the script is not loaded. All pages, guides and forms work the same.

Why is there a notice when there was none before?

Because Yandex Metrica has been added, and it does set cookies. While the only analytics was cookieless there was nothing to inform about or reject.

Where does my data go while analytics is active?

To Yandex, which processes it in Russia, a country without a European Commission adequacy decision. You can stop it at any time by rejecting analytics.

Is what I type in the form recorded?

Not the text. Yandex session recording, Webvisor, is enabled and records mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, but forms are marked so that what you type into them is not recorded. If you reject analytics nothing is recorded.

How long does my choice last?

A maximum of 24 months. After that we ask again. You can change it earlier from the cookie settings link in the footer.
