Gestoría in Torrevieja

Torrevieja has one of the highest shares of foreign residents of any town in Spain, and that defines the paperwork that comes up here: EU citizen registration, Withdrawal Agreement TIE, non-lucrative residency, driving licence exchanges and many files complicated by a badly done padrón.

What is handled most here

  • Residency for EU citizens and their family members, where what you prove is financial means and insurance, not time in Spain.
  • Withdrawal Agreement TIE for British nationals resident before 31 December 2020, and the ordinary TIE for those who arrived later.
  • Non-lucrative residency and Law 14/2013 permits, common among those who come to live without working in Spain.
  • Driving licence exchange, which comes up constantly in Torrevieja given the number of residents from the UK, Norway, Ukraine and Russia.
  • Citizenship for those who have lived here for years.
  • Property purchase and the municipal capital gains tax, very present in a town where most foreigners are owners.

The padrón, which decides more here than it seems

The registration certificate and the historical padrón are issued by Torrevieja town hall, and they underpin almost everything: arraigo, renewals, citizenship and many regional procedures. Two problems recur on the coast and both are avoidable if caught in time:

  • Late registration. Many people live here for years before registering. For arraigo that means time in Spain must be proved another way, and not every alternative counts equally.
  • Removal on expiry. The registration of non-EU nationals without a permanent residence permit must be renewed periodically, and if it lapses a gap appears in the history exactly where it matters most.

Before filing anything that depends on time in Spain, request the history and read it. A gap found beforehand can be documented another way; found afterwards, it usually costs the file.

You do not need to come to the office

Most of the work is done online, with a digital certificate or a power of representation, so where the client lives does not limit the service. There are two routes and both are routine:

  • Digital certificate: you sign from wherever you are, and we prepare and file the application.
  • Power of representation or electronic authorisation: we act on your behalf using the professional certificate of a registered gestora.

The exception is strictly personal acts, which nobody can do for you: proving your identity to obtain the digital certificate, giving fingerprints for the TIE, and taking the oath in a citizenship file. Those must be done in person, and always in the province where you are registered.

Languages

We work in Spanish, English, Ukrainian and Russian. In a town where many residents do not use Spanish day to day, that is not a marketing detail: most requests from the administration are answered badly because they are not properly understood, not because the document is missing.

Frequently asked questions

I live in Torrevieja. Which office decides my file?

The Alicante immigration office, because Torrevieja is in that province. The competent traffic headquarters is also Alicante.

I am British and have been here since before Brexit. Which document applies?

The Withdrawal Agreement TIE, which recognises the rights of those already resident before 31 December 2020. It is different from the ordinary TIE and should not be confused with it.

I have lived here for years but registered late. Can I apply for arraigo?

It depends on what else you can use to prove your time here. The padrón is the preferred evidence, not the only one, but alternatives must be prepared carefully.

Do I have to renew my padrón registration?

Non-EU nationals without a long-term residence permit must renew it periodically. If they do not, they are removed when it expires.

Do you work in English or Russian?

Yes, both, as well as Spanish and Ukrainian.
